Catalyst News Service was created to provide human-centered, 

data-driven, deep-dive journalism to partnering publications. 

Stories focus on social justice, criminal justice and the intersections of both. Catalyst stories look for solutions to the problems they expose, such as legal reforms or ways to fill a gap in social services.

We learned the five Ws and H in J-School. But "why" tends to be the hardest question to answer. When you're tackling massive, systemic issues, the "why" is deep, it's complex, and it takes time and space to answer fully. Answering the "why" helps readers take action, so Catalyst stories never leave it unanswered.

I am an award-winning journalist with more than a decade of experience, including 10 years as a local newspaper reporter. I launched Catalyst to do more than I could in daily news.
